OUR SERVICES
The Shorn Meadows Project was developed by conservation biologist Jason Tesauro as a means to provide custom, non-chemical control of unwanted vegetation in natural habitats. Since 1998, Jason has been studying the effects of domestic grazers--sheep, cattle, goats--on the plants and wildlife in a variety of habitat types, including sensitive wetlands, abandoned pastures, and utility easements. Through this work, he has controlled large-scale invasions by nonnative and/or competitively dominant plants and restored favorable habitat for endangered reptiles, amphibians, songbirds, and butterflies.
The Shorn Meadows Project is currently seeking properties where landowners would like to restore and/or manage meadows and fields as natural habitat. Properties must have a permanent water feature (for drinking) and road access for herd maintenance. Fencing is provided. All sites and land management objectives are unique and require a customized grazing approach. Please contact Jason to schedule a site visit to determine if your land is a feasible candidate.
